OREGON FAMILY WINERY HOLDS DEEP RESPECT FOR NATURE'S INFLUENCE AND POWER
From the start, Van Duzer Vineyards was conceived as a winery which seamlessly converts its detailed knowledge of its estate vineyards into finely crafted wines which bear the distinctive stamp of their particular location, soils and site.
Having "listened to the vineyard," Van Duzer has gradually adopted highly customized farming and cellar practices that benefit both the wines and the ecological health of the vineyard. "We didn't have to build ponds for self-irrigation, introduce new Dijon grape clones, or buy a state-of-the-art oversized press," said Carl Thoma. "There are perfectly acceptable barrels available at a lower price. Yet we know that these decisions, cumulatively, will pay off in wines of greater distinction and consistency over time."
Van Duzer is a family-owned estate winery that has evolved as a producer of precisely farmed, finely crafted wines under the guidance of, right to left, Vineyard Manager Norbert Fiebig, owners Marilynn and Carl Thoma, Winemaker Jim Kakacek,Hospitality, Billing and Shipping Manager Kathy Fiebig. and National Sales Manager Tanna Massar.
