Product Description: 2000 Homestead Block Pinot Noir Willamette Valley
WINEMAKER'S NOTES The Homestead Vineyard is only the second vineyard-designate Pinot Noir to be released by Van Duzer. The 2000 vintage earned this distinction with its depth and purity of fruit. Rich dark cherry and black raspberry flavors finish with overtones of chocolate and vanilla. Imagine a bittersweet chocolate morsel filled with Chambord liqueur. Concentrated without being weighty. Production is limited to just over 200 cases.
THE VINEYARDS Our Homestead Vineyard Pinot Noir is produced from Pommard clone vines planted on a gentle slope where the original homestead of this property once stood. In recent vintages, the exceptionally pure dark cherry-like character of the wine produced from this small plot has stood out in tastings, and the 2000 vintage marks the first Homestead Vineyard-designated bottling.

WINEMAKING Grapes from the Homestead Vineyard were carefully screened and hand harvested to ensure the finest quality. As with all our Pinot Noir, they were destemmed and cold-macerated prior to fermentation for maximum color and soft tannins. Following fermentations, the wine was aged for 14 months in half new tightly-grained French oak and half neutral oak.
