Van Duzer Releases Trio of Estate Wines

Willamette Valley, OR, April 4, 2007 –The Van Duzer Basin cool-climate style rings true and clear in a trio of spring releases from Van Duzer Vineyards. With the 2005 Estate Pinot Noir the telltale whiff of violet and fresh-picked basket of red and black fruit flavors persist across vintages. Yet the 2005 Estate Pinot Noir evokes a finesse and complexity that reminds one of the highly rated 2002 and 2003 bottlings. The smoothed tannic structure seems perfectly proportioned to the subtle play of floral notes, red and blue fruits and spices that slowly reveal themselves to the senses.
The dry summer months of 2006 worked to intensify flavors in the 2006 Estate Pinot Noir Rosé. Made in the traditional dry style, the prominent Pinot Noir flavors in this Rosé are in fine balance with a bright, bracing acidity. The 2006 bottling displays red fruit complexity, from the typical strawberry to cranberry and ruby red grapefruit.
Meanwhile, the 2006 Estate Pinot Gris reprises its winning crisp profile, smacking of citrus and stone fruit flavors with a steely edge. The fullness of fruit and mineral notes clearly mark Oregon Pinot Gris as the more distinguished cousin to an Italian Pinot Grigio.
The new releases were finished in Van Duzer’s new state-of-the art, energy-efficient winery that was finished just prior to the 2006 harvest. The new facility creates greater efficiency and control of fermentation and storage temperatures, and will accommodate the eventual 20,000 case capacity of its 75 acre estate.
Located near the top of an oak-covered knoll at an elevation of 475 feet with expansive views of the surrounding countryside, the new 18,500-square foot winery features a barrel room buried 12 feet into the ground to create natural cooling effects.
